Ruth has worked as a freelance designer on a wide variety of projects, ranging from textiles for home furnishing and fashion, to greeting cards, tableware and gift-wraps. She loves to see her work in the shops as a finished product, or to see someone wearing one of her textile designs. She has used her knowledge of colour, form and pattern in her paintings.

Ruth says of her work, " I love subtle, natural colour contrasts, and simple elegant forms. I'm interested in 1950's design and collect ceramics, which often inspire my paintings. My work also refers to abstract landscapes and aerial views. I have recently begun to show my paintings and prints, and have been encouraged by a series of successful exhibitions."
